Jacqueline

She was a bird that wanted to fly
She stood in her cage, but she couldn't cry
She sang a sweet song, so sweet yet so soft
Does she know what holds her heart aloft?

Isn't she sweet, this pretty little bird?
She loves everyone, but isn't she heard?
She is so pretty, yet so far away
A faint little smile, she steals my heart away

Does she know, the sweetness in her heart
She may be mean, but she sure is smart
She hides behind a curtain, but not from me
I know she is, something beyond the seas

A rainbow bird, a chirp so deep
Her song lilts in the wind, a tune to keep
A tune that shakes eternity's bells
A smile that can make even the stormy seas quell

She may be sad, empty and lonely
But in time she'll be more than that only
Her golden whistle will ring in the sky
As the rainbow songbird is free to fly

Dedicated to a friend trying to find herself
